In concert Thursday 30 October in Grounds, Rotterdam

The Ayal Ensemble is a unique collective of female musicians from all over the world. They bring forgotten female voices to life with music that touches, connects and moves. On Thursday, 30 October, they will be performing live on stage at Grounds in Rotterdam.
Stories of women in many languages
Ayal plays songs by and for women — music that has often been unheard or ignored for centuries. Their repertoire, sung in languages including Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Kurdish, Greek, Macedonian and Albanian, reflects the resilience, creativity and solidarity of women worldwide.
About Ayal
The ensemble was founded by singer Emine Tokail, who was born in central Turkey and educated at Codarts Rotterdam. Her personal quest for artistic freedom inspired her to give a platform to the forgotten songs for and from women. Thus, Ayal was born: a collective of women from different corners of the world, united by a shared mission. Each musician brings her own sound, tradition, and story, and together they create a rich and compelling sound that transcends boundaries.
Concert at Grounds
Ayal will perform in a double concert in the Women’s Voices series at Grounds on Thursday 30 October. Spanish singer-songwriter Ysa Bermejo will also perform that evening.
