Khorshid Dadbeh on tar and tanbour

Khorshid Dadbeh is a virtuoso musician and a master of the Iranian stringed instruments tar and tanbour. Born and educated in Iran, she studied under renowned musicians such as Houshang Zarif and Sohrab Pournazeri. She has lived and worked in Rotterdam since 2018, completing a master’s degree at Codarts. Her music is deeply rooted in the rich heritage of her native Iran.

Together with flautist Lucie Lelaurain, she forms the successful duo Hamraaz, which has enjoyed great success on national and international stages, performing everywhere from the Into the Great Wide Open festival to concert halls in Paris and Berlin. She also performs regularly as a soloist, including at the world-renowned Festival of Sacred Music in Fez in 2019 and Utrecht’s Le Guess Who? in 2023.

On Thursday 30 October, Khorshid will take to the stage at Grounds in Rotterdam with the women’s ensemble Ayal as part of the Women’s Voices Rotterdam series — an evening where female artists will share their stories and strength through music.

On Saturday 13 September, Khorshid Dadbeh will perform at the Meet Up about Women’s Heritage of the Rotterdam Year of the Woman in Concertgebouw De Doelen. She will play her own enchanting compositions inspired by ancient Iranian music.
