Women’s Voices Concert – Thursday, 16 April 2026

On Thursday, 16 April, Maryana Golovchenko will bring the magic of Ukrainian women’s singing to the Pelgrimvaderskerk in Rotterdam. Born in Kyiv, the versatile singer connects East and West, past and present in her music. Accompanied by cellist Pau Solá Masafrets, she will perform a repertoire associated with spring, full of energy, hope and vitality. Golovchenko will also be giving singing workshops in The Hague and Utrecht on Sunday 8 March, International Women’s Day.
About Maryana Golovchenko
Based in the Netherlands, Ukrainian singer, musician and creator Maryana Golovchenko builds bridges between tradition and innovation. With her voice, she blends centuries-old Ukrainian sounds with contemporary styles and global musical influences. As a creative performing artist she collaborates with musicians, choirs, filmmakers, dancers and visual artists, performing in a variety of ensembles. She can be heard in Trio SonCe, where her clear, pure voice is accompanied by the cello, Turkish wind instruments and modular synthesizers. Her work exudes curiosity and craftsmanship, as well as a deep connection to the musical heritage of her native Ukraine. With her warm voice and natural charisma, she has the ability to touch every audience.
Concert: Maryana Golovchenko & Pau Solá Masafrets in Pelgrimvaderskerk
On 16 April, Maryana Golovchenko and cellist Pau Solá Masafrets will perform ritual women’s songs deeply rooted in Ukrainian tradition and connected to spring. These songs symbolise new beginnings, hope and solidarity, radiating strength and positive energy. Maryana’s musical accompanist Pau Solá Masafrets is a Barcelona-born cellist, composer and improviser. Pau’s musical background ranges from classical to jazz and South Indian music. This rich diversity is reflected in his groundbreaking compositions and improvisations, in which refinement and adventure go hand in hand. The concert is being organised in collaboration with Oekraïens Huis and Stichting Vataha who will sell Ukrainian crafts and snacks.

Ukrainian Women’s Singing Workshops in The Hague and Utrecht
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Maryana Golovchenko will be leading workshops on Ukrainian women’s singing. Participants will embark on a musical journey through Ukrainian culture, focusing on voice, singing together and women’s empowerment.
