On Wednesday 25 November, the Nasîn Trio will perform at the Orange the World Festival at Theater De Vaillant. Three young female musicians will take the audience on a journey through the rich Turkish, Kurdish and Armenian traditions.
Nasîn is a Kurdish word referring to an encounter: that special moment when you meet someone for the first time and a new connection begins to take shape. This idea lies at the heart of the Nasîn Trio. Three talented young musicians — Zilan Hasret Yildiz, Lucie Lelaurain and Bori Mályi — have come together through their shared love of Turkish, Kurdish and Armenian music.
Combining vocals, bağlama, duduk, flute and percussion, they bring a diverse repertoire to life. The warm tones of the stringed instruments, the expressive human voice, the beautiful sound of the duduk and the vibrant rhythms of the percussion weave together to create an intense and richly layered soundscape.
A special part of the concert features women’s songs that have been passed down orally through generations. Zilan Hasret Yildiz learnt these songs from her grandmother in eastern Turkey. Through the music of the Nasîn Trio, these stories and melodies are brought to life once again, finding a new voice in the present.
