With warm feelings we look back on Arabic Crossroads Music & Poetry 2024. One of the highlights was the concert on Thursday 24th October 2024 at TivoliVredenburg, where Trio Walid Ben Selim and local artists paid an impressive tribute to the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
Walid Ben Selim performed the composition The Diceplayer with Agathe di Piro on piano and Nidhal Jaoua on qanun. Their beautiful concert was preceded by wonderful performances by the choir Dunya, Musicaz and Randa Awad and an informative introduction by Maureen Ghazal.
On Wednesday 16 October, the Poetry Special in Het Wilde Westen provided an in-depth program with an excellent lecture ‘De Speling van het Lot’ by Marianne Dagevos, poetry recitation and storytelling by Randa Awad and beautiful improvisations on the Arabic lute by Nizar Rohana.
